Yoga classes
are becoming easier and easier to find in the West. Yoga
classes are often offered these days in health and fitness
centres, community centres, schools and universities and
sometimes in businesses. In larger towns and cities, yoga
classes are often offered in dedicated yoga centres.
There are many
different types of yoga classes available. Some yoga
classes are very dynamic and develop much strength and
endurance. Some yoga classes are done in very hot rooms.
Other yoga classes take a more gentle approach, with
deeper stretching and prolonged holding of the asanas
(yoga postures). Regular attendance at yoga classes of any type
will increase strength and flexibility of the body, improve
breathing, mental concentration and peace of mind, and increase
vitality levels. Yoga classes are very beneficial for
reducing anxiety, tensions and stress levels, and for easing
stiffness, aches and pains in the body.
There are also
yoga classes available which are aimed at particular
population groups. There are yoga classes for pregnancy,
yoga classes for children, yoga classes for
seniors, and gentle yoga classes for those recovering
from illness or for those dealing with some physical or
mental/emotional condition. Yoga therapy is becoming more and
more widespread and offers yoga classes for specific
conditions such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, heart disease
and cancer.
