Bringing Yoga and Ayurveda into Psychotherapy and Counseling
Recent research indicates that yoga is a powerful intervention to ease the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. With its sister science, Ayurveda, it offers a comprehensive model for understanding and treating these disorders. In this course, participants will gain an understanding of yogic philosophy and subtle physiology; knowledge of the energetic and emotional benefits of yoga practice and an understanding of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda as they relate to mental health issues. Participants will learn to apply yogic and Ayurvedic principles to the treatment of anxiety, depression and PTSD, and will experience a variety of Ayurvedic healing and cleansing practices.
