Embark on your journey into the practice of Yoga by taking this Yoga for Beginners Course and start your practice in the ideal setting of the Yoga Retreat. This course follows the 5 Points of Yoga created by Swami Vishnudevananda for health and inner peace: 1) proper exercise, 2) proper breathing, 3) proper relaxation, 4) proper diet, and 5) positive thinking and meditation. Through immersion into the basics of Yoga and extensive guided practice and theory studies, this course will build your Yoga practice on a solid foundation that will be sure to give you a stable and joyous practice to last a lifetime.

Course topics include:

  • The 12 basic asanas, sun salutations, breathing exercises (pranayama), and relaxation
  • Introduction to Yoga philosophy¬† & sacred texts
  • The 5 basic principles of Yoga
  • The 4 paths of Yoga

The Course will be taught by senior staff of the Ashram.
