If you work at a desk all day, this form of yoga can be a great pick-me-up and tension reliever. When you get caught up in an assignment -- especially when working at a computer (and who doesn’t these days?) -- your body just locks into one position and muscles get tense. Your breath gets shallow, your circulation weakens and your concentration does too. In these states of mind you ignore signs of hunger and then later you end up grabbing the easiest, but not necessarily most nutritious, snack (which you may feel guilty about later causing you more stress). You usually feel the results of this stress at the end of the day and may have trouble sleeping which carries into the next day.
Did you know you can perform most yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and relaxation techniques from a chair? Chair Yoga is for everyone. No matter what age you are or what condition you are in, you can experience the health benefits of yoga. Even if you are the laziest person in the world you’ll love Chair Yoga. Plus after learning the basics you can just taking a few minutes out of your work day to perform just one or two Chair Yoga postures to reduce tension in the shoulders and back or even tension headaches. You will feel relaxed, revived and rejuvenated. This adapted style of yoga is ideal for office settings.
The class is 45 minutes in length and after de-stressing and calming the mind, we get to enjoy a delicious, nutritious vegan lunch to feed our minds well too!
