Course Details

This certification course provides an introduction to the classical system of Vedic astrology and its relationship with yoga. Students will learn to identify samskaras, mental tendencies and individual karmas and the time of their fructification. Students will also learn to prescribe remedial measures. The science of Vedic Astrology will be introduced as a tool for understanding the karmic situation of each individual, recognizing past tendencies, potential talents or obstacles, and integrating these with the knowledge of Yoga and Vedanta.

Curriculum

• Introduction to the Vedas, the Veda-angas, Vedic view of life and Vedanta Philosophy


• Karma and reincarnation


• Destiny and free will


• How to understand the individual's karma, samskaras and mental tendencies from a birth chart


• How to understand personal duty, mission or work to do in this life, as well as the spiritual path from a birth chart.


• How to asses health, potential diseases, weak areas, difficult periods and ayurvedic constitution form a birth chart


• Differences between Vedic and Western astrology


• The 9 planets, the 12 signs, the 12 houses, the 27 Vedic stars and the effects of specific planetary combinations


• Practical examples of chart analysis


• Remedial measures: Vedic and Yogic ways to counteract the effect of the Planets

Alan Wiuker (Krishna)
Alan Wiuker (Krishna) is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda and has been a yoga teacher for more than 22 years. He is certified in Jyotish and is an approved Jyotish teacher and tutor with the American College of Vedic Astrology (ACVA) in the U.S. Alan Wiuker studied under the tutorship of Gary Gomes, Gangadhara Girish, renowned Vedic astrologer president of the American Council of Vedic Astrology, and other renowned teachers from India and the U.S. In his long practice, study and teaching of Yoga and Vedanta philosophy, Alan Wiuker has come to recognize the value of Vedic astrology as a tool to give better counseling and guidance to those on the spiritual journey. Prerequisite

This course is open to all.

Certification

Graduates earn certificate from the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat. The study hours of the course are credited for the ACVA (American College of Vedic Astrology) certification program.

Yoga Alliance Credit

Certified yoga teachers graduating from this program receive credit that may be counted toward RYT500 Yoga Alliance accreditation.

Arrival and Departure

The course starts at 11:00am on the first day and ends at 6:00pm on the last day. Please plan to arrive at the Yoga Retreat at least one day before the start of the course and to leave at least one day after the course completion.

We recommend that you spend at least a few days in the Yoga Retreat before the start of your course. This allows your body and mind time to rest, re-energise and be nourished by the ashram environment. You can then begin your study feeling relaxed and refreshed. You may also wish to stay for some days after the end of the course to allow the learning from your study to integrate more fully into your consciousness within the supportive environment of the ashram. If you decide to arrive early and to stay longer, please register for the Yoga Vacation Program for those additional days.
