Course Details
This one week course provides a comprehensive approach to teaching yoga to children, encouraging children to apply their natural open-mindedness, enthusiasm and playfulness to the mind, body and health awareness practices of yoga. This course is ideal for yoga teachers wishing to teach yoga classes for children in schools, yoga centers or studios.
Curriculum
- Physiology and anatomy of child development
- Teaching playful asanas
- Breathing and relaxation techniques for children
- Meditation for children
- Adapting asanas, meditation, breathing and relaxation for children of different ages
- Teaching health awareness to children
- Developing the spiritual teachings for children
- Making yoga for children creative and fun with chanting, music, art and stories

Presenter
Mira Binzen
Mira Binzen is a certified Sivananda Yoga Teacher, a yoga therapist and has a degree in psychology. She is the founder of Global Family Yoga, an organization which focuses on child development through yoga. She conducts trainings for teaching yoga to children in North America and Asia.

Prerequisite
This course is open to all yoga practitioners, to certified yoga teachers from all traditions and to professionals working with children (school teachers, sports instructors, pediatric practitioners and others) who have an established yoga practice.
Certification
Graduates earn a certificate co-signed by the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat and Mira Binzen.
Yoga Alliance Credit: Certified yoga teachers can receive credit toward RYT500 Yoga Alliance accreditation.
Cost

Arrival and Departure
The course begins at 11:00am on the first day, and ends at 6:00pm on
the last day.
Please plan to arrive at the Yoga Retreat at least one day before the start of the course and to leave at least one day after the course completion.
We recommend that you spend at least a few days in the Yoga Retreat before the start of your course. This allows your body and mind time to rest, re-energize and be nourished by the ashram environment. You can then begin your study feeling relaxed and refreshed. You may also wish to stay for some days after the end of the course to allow the learning from your study to integrate more fully into your consciousness within the supportive environment of the ashram. If you decide to arrive early and to stay longer, please register for the Yoga Vacation Program for those additional days.
