Course Details
Learn an evidence-based yoga protocol to help students and clients focus, relax, and have greater access to feeling states. This program interweaves ancient yogic wisdom with current findings in neurobiology. Yoga teachers and mental-health professionals will learn strategies appropriate for a clinical setting that can safely release chronically held physical tension and repressed emotion. In the process of learning Yogic techniques to help clients manage their moods and increase self-efficacy, you will also be practicing tools for self-care.
Through yoga practice, discussion, and practice teaching sessions you will
• Design one-on-one yoga sessions for dysthymia (chronic depression), anxiety-based depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder
• Learn breathing and meditation practices for addressing dysthymia and anxiety-based depression
• Add somatic strategies to your clinical practice and yoga classes that increase your clients’ self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem, and ability to cope
• Experience techniques you can teach your clients and students to do at home.
• Practices will include asana (postures), pranayama and kriya (breathing and cleansing), mantra (chanting), bhavana (development of the mind), sankalpa (resolve and intention), mudra (hand gestures), meditation, therapeutic long holding of postures and Nondual strategies for working with negative self-talk.
• You will take home tools and confidence for working with individuals suffering from depression and anxiety.

Recommended practice with the LifeForce Yoga® CD series that includes Breathe to Beat the Blues (CD), and LifeForce Yoga to Beat the Blues Level 1 & Level 2 (DVDs).
This program is a Certification for Level One training as a LifeForce Yoga Practitioner and offers CEUs from the Yoga Alliance.
This program is eligible for:

Amy Weintraub
Amy Weintraub, MFA, E-RYT 500, author of Yoga for Depression (Broadway Books) and founding director of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute, is a leader in the field of yoga and mental health. She offers professional certification trainings in LifeForce Yoga® for Mood Management and speaks at medical and psychological conferences internationally. Amy is involved in ongoing research on the affects of Yoga on mood. Her evidence-based Yoga protocol for managing mood is featured on a number of LifeForce Yoga CDs, and the first DVD home Yoga practice series for mood management, the award-winning LifeForce Yoga to Beat the Blues. Arrival and Departure
The course begins at 11:00am on the first day, and ends at 6:00pm on
the last day.
Please plan to arrive at the Yoga Retreat at least one day before the start of the course and to leave at least one day after the course completion.
We recommend that you spend at least a few days in the Yoga Retreat before the start of your course. This allows your body and mind time to rest, re-energize and be nourished by the ashram environment. You can then begin your study feeling relaxed and refreshed. You may also wish to stay for some days after the end of the course to allow the learning from your study to integrate more fully into your consciousness within the supportive environment of the ashram. If you decide to arrive early and to stay longer, please register for the Yoga Vacation Program for those additional days.
