The Advanced Yoga Teachers' Training Course allows graduates from the Teachers' Training Course to deepen their spiritual practice and their study of Hatha yoga, Vedanta philosophy, Raja yoga, anatomy, and Sanskrit. The approach to teaching is personal, focusing on the individual student. The course is taught by senior disciples of Swami Vishnudevananda and is considered to be the next step after the Teachers' Training Course.
Certification
• Upon successful completion of the course, students receive the Certificate of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, entitled Yoga Acharya. • This training is registered by and fulfils the requirements for the Yoga Alliance 500-hour certification, for which graduates of the program are invited to register. • Continuing Education Units (CEU) available. • Course graduates can earn University Credits toward Graduate degrees from The Open International University.
Qualifications for admission
This course is taught by senior Swamis teachers of the Sivananda organization.
Curriculum

Yoga Asanas: Progress in your yoga asana practice (advanced variations and prolonged holding of the postures), and increase your concentration.
Pranayama: One hour of practice each morning including advanced pranayama, mudras and bandhas.
Vedanta: Study of the different philosophical schools of India, vedantic theory and practice, and vedantic meditation techniques.
Raja Yoga: In-depth study of Patanjali Yoga Sutras for deeper understanding of how to control and eventually transcend the mind.
Sanskrit: The alphabet, pronunciation and the writing of sacred mantras. Anatomy and Physiology: Functioning of the nervous and the endocrine systems in relation to the practice of yoga.
Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga: Inner attitudes of selfless service; the nine modes of Bhakti as a means for transforming emotions into love and devotion. |
Daily Schedule

* Attendance at all activities is mandatory. Changes in the program may occur from time to time. * Each Friday is a day off. Students are required to attend morning pranayama, morning and evening satsangs as well as to complete their one-hour of karma yoga. The rest of the day is free for their own personal study and activities.

What to Bring
The book Meditation and Mantras by Swami Vishnudevananda (available for purchase at our boutique and in all of our centers worldwide), 2 pairs of Yoga Teachers' Training uniforms.
Other equipment: casual comfortable clothes, yoga mat, meditation cushion, meditation shawl, toiletries, notebooks, pens, slip-on sandals, clothing for warm days and cool mornings/evenings, rainwear, flashlight, insect repellent, alarm clock, travel mug/tumbler, water bottle, sunscreen, beach towel and bathing suit.
For tent space only: bring your own tent, bedding, and towels.
Arrival and Departure Information
Please note: Students should plan to arrive at least one day prior to the beginning of the course and depart at least one day after its completion. There will not be an extra charge for those 2 nights.
Students are welcome to arrive even earlier and stay as long as they wish after the course. For those extra days students will pay the regular accommodation rates of the ashram (see rates) and yoga vacation program rates. Students are also welcome to contact us or to speak to the ashram manager if they would like to stay in the ashram after the course on either a work study or karma yoga program. The work study and karma yoga programs are excellent ways to deepen your experience and understanding of yoga and yoga teaching.
