Dr. Laurier-Pierre Desjardins May 7 – 13, 2006 (Arrival: May 6, departure: May 14)
This course provides yoga teachers and advanced practitioners with a deeper understanding of the functional anatomy of yoga asanas, pranayama, bandhas, and mudras. Students will explore the basic yoga asanas from the perspective of their structure, their function, and their unique pranic flow (energy flow).
The course was developed in order to fulfill a growing need of yoga teachers who adjust and correct their students based only on an instinctive knowledge. The course gives yoga teachers the necessary tools to understand the unique body structure of their students and how to correct and adjust their postures in order to achieve flexibility and an optimal pranic flow.
Students will also learn the functional anatomy relevant to the major injuries that could occur in a hatha yoga class and how to prevent them. In addition, students will study how to use asanas as a therapeutic tool to help recovery and healing.
