Warm Up Your Winter with Yoga!

When we feel drained, overwhelmed, fatigued — even exhausted — we often think, “I just want some time for myself.” But even while alone, that restful experience is rare. It’s easy to get caught up in thoughts, worries, to-dos … and before we know it, that “free time” is over.

We need deep rest. The solution is simple but takes practice. Separate from sleep, we need to be able to experience deep peace and rest within ourselves while we are awake. The more we train our bodies and minds, the quicker we can attain this healing state of simply being.

That’s why relaxation is essential in yoga: it brings rest to the body, mind, and soul.

Give yourself the gift of relaxation this year and join us at the ashram for a sweetly restorative experience. View our program calendar and see what speaks to you. > http://bit.ly/1T9Ndrt

Ayurveda and Spirituality: Presenter Spotlight with Paul Dugliss

Please share what you do in 10-15 words:
I work to transform health and lives through Ayurveda and spirituality.

Why do you do what you do?
I have a deep desire to help and change the world.

What are you currently fascinated by in your work?
I love to explore the power of consciousness to heal and transform.

How did you come to your path? Any aha moments or key teachers?
I came to my path by trying to understand the suffering in the world. Important teachers for me are Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and Marshall Rosenberg.

What book(s) did you like reading this year?
I enjoyed Grace by Gina Lake and Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg.

And …
What is something about the ashram that has surprised you?

I was moved by the breadth of experience and devotion of the students there.

Paul Dugliss, MD, practices Ayurvedic medicine, Ayurvedic counseling, and internal medicine. He is the author of many books, including Ayurveda: The Power to Heal; Enlightened Nutrition; Capturing the Bliss: Ayurveda and the Yoga of Emotions; The Myth of Cholesterol; and Yoga and Ayurveda. Dr. Dugliss is the founder, director, and academic dean of New World Ayurveda School, an organization that provides online training in this comprehensive system of natural medicine.
