We all seek happiness. We all seek to be productive and to use our talents to make a difference. We seek balance and equanimity through life’s ups and downs. And we seek this contentment especially now, within the complexities of modern life.
This program brings together two thought leaders in the science, practice, and spirituality for living a happy and productive life.
Gopi Kallayil, author of The Internet to the Inner-net and The Happy Human one of Google’s best and brightest, uses stories from his high-tech work life and his personal life to explore what it means to be truly happy–and what makes us truly human. He shares his unique prescription for staying authentic and true to oneself in a modern, connected world.
Dr. Jay Kumar, an expert and respected academician in the fields of neuroscience, happiness and personal transformation, explores the latest research in brain science to expose several insights, including a long-forgotten aspect of our shared biology—our “Social Brains.” “To socialize is to survive, to tribe is to thrive.” he says. Your happiness demands a tribe, not on social media, but in the real fabric of your daily life.
Both presenters have traveled the world seeking answers to deeply personal questions about their own happiness; from corporate boardrooms and halls of academia, to holy ashrams and meditation cushions. With insight, humor and humility they share their triumphs and travails on this path; presenting to us a timeless, scientific and practical prescription for happiness.
Gopi Kallayil is a graduate of the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course and the Chief Evangelist, Brand Marketing at Google. Earlier, he worked on marketing the company’s flagship advertising product AdWords, and led the marketing team for AdSense. Before joining Google, Gopi was on the management team of two Silicon Valley venture-funded startups. He is an avid yoga practitioner, triathlete, public speaker, and global traveler.
Dr. Jay Kumar is a renowned public speaker, thought leader, and professor of the popular Happiness course at Chapman University. His expertise spans brain science and behavioral health; economics, politics, culture, and Eastern religions. He also holds a master’s degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in international political economy. Dr. Jay co-founded the Applied Brain Science Research Institute (ABSRI), an international organization that explores the dynamic intersection of science, spirituality, and society in order to advance solutions for issues facing our contemporary and complex world. He is also a certified yoga and meditation instructor. Dr. Jay is the author of Science of a Happy Brain: Thriving in Our Age of Anger, Anxiety, and Addiction and of Brain, Body & Being.
