My daughters and I went to the ashram on a Yoga Vacation and it was absolutely amazing! What a beautiful place — scenery, accommodations, and spirit. I had not done yoga before and I was a little intimidated — for about a minute! Then I felt so welcome and so supported that I was able to really expand my knowledge and practice and feel totally comfortable.

Services Offered

Ayurvedic Consultation — 2 hours+ (offered in 2 sessions)

Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga, is an ancient system of holistic living that teaches us to balance our daily life with our unique physical and mental constitution through diet, herbs and other lifestyle modifications.

A consultation consists of in-depth inquiry to explore the client’s unique constitution and evaluate the signs and causes of potential or actual imbalances. The second meeting provides practical, easy-to-implement suggestions for cultivating physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual well being through yoga practices and Ayurvedic five-sense therapies.

The Ayurveda treatment I experienced was divine. Not only was it a deep layered physical relaxation but it penetrated the subconscious in a very subtle and blissful way. The imprint of the oils is still in my body and mind days after the treatment.

Well-being Center Shirodhara | sivanandabahamas.org

Ayurvedic Body Treatment — Abhyanga and Shirodhara (90 minutes)

This deeply healing therapy — often referred to as the “bliss treatment” — begins with Abhyanga, a balancing warm-oil massage with specialized strokes designed to stimulate lymph and blood circulation, support hormonal balance, strengthen and help detox all the tissues of the body, supporting the immune system. It feels wonderful! A blend of organic seed and essential oils are applied to the client’s head and body. The warm oil treatment stimulates, clears, and balances the energy patterns of the body-mind.

This is followed by Shirodhara, the application of a continuous slow stream of warm oil poured over the forehead and scalp, calming the central nervous system. Simultaneously having a slowing and balancing effect, while stimulating the endocrine system’s pituitary and pineal glands, enhancing blood circulation to the brain, Shirodhara helps to release deeply trapped toxins. This treatment calms the mind, which allows for deep relaxation and improved sleep.

As a yoga teacher who works with body and mind on daily basis, I found that the Ayurveda experience helped replenish, connect and relax me on a whole different level. I feel more people should be aware of Ayurveda’s incredible benefits as it’s almost like a “best kept secret”. People are familiar with yoga and meditation and they don’t realize that Ayurveda holds just as an important place as the first two. Opening to the Ayurveda experience is the best gift one can experience and in turn, the giving to others will be experienced with more wholeness.

Well-being Therapeutic Massage | sivanandabahamas.org

Shirodhara (50 minutes)
males only

Shirodhara is the application of a continuous slow stream of warm oil poured over the forehead and scalp, calming the central nervous system.

Additionally, to relieve any tension build-up that exists, Marma pressure point therapy and massage are used on the head, neck, feet, and shoulders.

Holistic Therapeutic Massage (60 or 90 minutes)

Therapeutic massage supports general health — increasing circulation, releasing stress, and enhancing the immune system. A treatment for energy clearing, it also relieves muscle strain, aches and pains. Our therapists draw from a variety of modalities, including Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, cranial sacral, visceral therapy and trigger point therapy. Pressure is customized for each client.

Thai Yoga Massage (90 minutes)

Thai massage works with the meridians and pressure points. It promotes circulation, nourishes internal organs, benefits joint mobility, eliminate toxins and moves subtle energy (qi or prana). Thai massage leaves the recipient feeling relaxed and peaceful. The client remains clothed.

NEW! Pain Release Therapy (added to Thai Massage)
males only (no extra cost)

Pain release therapy works with the trigger points, nerves, and muscle insertions to release palpatory
sympathetic nervous system pain. It can also restore range of motion.
